Logan's Graduation

Logan has officially graduated!! From pre-school. It really was a big celebration for him--he had a rough start to school this year and a few rough patches during the year (they forgot him in the classroom once) but preschool was a great experience for him. He is definitely still very attached to mommy and a little shy, but he has come out of his shell and become more confident. His teacher, Mrs. Perez, made a big deal out of graduation (this was her very first class, so special for her too) and it was a great way to end the year. She had both a.m. and p.m. classes come together and invited parents. The kids practiced and practiced their "program" which consisted of songs and prayers and during their performance, gave each child a diploma and book of their school projects. I tried to attach a video I made with my camera (I forgot the charged and ready camcorder on the bathroom sink) but for some reason couldn't do it.
I made him wear a tie, because he has one and really, how many occasions are there when you can wear a tie? I also made Tate wear one too, just because he's so darn cute.

His teacher, Mrs. Perez, is on the left and Mrs. Jenson, the classroom aide, is on the right.

Summer has finally come! Well....sorta.....

So it has finally gotten warm enough to have a little summer fun here in lovely Idaho Falls. On some days. The last week, for example, has been rainy and chilly. Yesterday when I woke up it was 43 degrees! It's June, Mr. Weatherman!! And, it is supposed to rain all week. ug. We did have a few really nice days though, and we took full advantage. Biking to the park, water table on the deck, and a slip-n-slide. Here are some pictures!!

Logan got a new bike for Christmas and he has been learning to ride. He really likes all the gear he gets to wear "so we can be safe." Did I mention his favorite color is green?

BAD Mommie!

Happy Mother's Day! This year for Mother's Day, we decided to spend a nice, relaxing day at Yellowstone Bear World. I told Todd next year I am going to the spa by myself. We had a really fun time, and if you are ever in Eastern Idaho, you should definitely go there--it's way less cheesy than it looks on the outside. And, it is, by far, the cleanest park we have been to since moving here.
Anyway, I posted some pictures, but just had a few funny stories to share.

To prelude, I have to say that Tate loves to eat. If anyone reading this does not know, he rarely skips a meal and always eats almost everything given to him. He also gets his business done. While Logan goofs around and never eats, Tate is done in 5 minutes having finished everything on his plate. Breakfast is probably his best meal, with it being Logan's worst.

While we were getting ready to go to Bear World, I got the best Mother's Day gift ever--Tate, my early riser, slept until 7:45 a.m.! By far a record for him. Anyway, we were hurrying to get ready and while I was getting ready, I heard Todd feeding the kids breakfast. There were sounds of waffles and cereal. A little while later when we were putting things in the car, Tate found a container of crackers and cookies in the pantry and was double fisting them into his mouth. In the car, with one hand tightly clenched around the container and the other shoving FIVE--yes five, cookies into his mouth, I said, "Tate, what's the deal? Didn't daddy just feed you breakfast?" Todd said, "I thought you fed him breakfast! You always feed him first!" Which in his defense is true. We--okay I---totally forgot to feed my kid breakfast! And on Mother's Day and everything! I did stop and buy him a donut. I totally win the Mother of the Year contest.

These are the baby cubs--so cute. Did you know they purr like cats? We got to pet them.

Also, spring is a great time to visit. We were told to keep the car moving and keep the windows rolled up because the bears are extra "frisky" in the spring. Duu--there were two totally doin' it right behind the guy as he was telling us this.....

Latest Sewing projects

I had to show off my latest sewing projects that I am making for a few friends who are having babies. Hopefully none of them read this blog so they don't see their gifts before I get them mailed. Ok, so these are diapee and wipee holders--they fit a container of wipes and about 2 diapers. My friend Jen gave me one when I had Tate and I really liked it. So, when I was trying to find something easy to sew, I made my own pattern and decided to make a few. I also gave some to my neighbor who is going to try to sell them with her stuff at craft fairs. They are seeeeew easy to make.

These are all burp cloths, a bunch of them!

This is a hooter hider nursing cover--it's two sided and even has the bendy-thing in the top like the real ones do. I was pretty impressed with myself, but it's a really good thing you can't see my seams :). The onsie t-shirts I just added some ric-rac onto and matching buttons. These would be cute for little girls with little flower buttons or something. Its been seeeew fun making all this baby stuff, makes me want to have another just so I can make more junk. NOT! But what am I going to make now?

Breakfast for Dad

In an attempt to get Logan to eat, lately he has been doing a lot of helping me prepare whatever it is we are eating. It has helped a little, but he is still an awful eater! On this occasion, he offered to make some cinnamon and sugar toast for Todd. He has his own shaker, and even got out the bread, butter and everything he needed all by himself. I did not supervise the butter or cinnamon situation, as you can see. Todd said it was "yummy, even with the hair on it!" Oh, and he insisted on getting out his chef costume so he could make it right.

Budding artists

I just had to put up some of these pictures of Logan and Tate painting. They were soooo funny--and in typical Petersen boy style, sooooo messy.
We decided to get out the paints on yet another gloomy spring day in Idaho where the weather was too bad to head out. Logan was a great helper, showing Tate how to use the brush. Tate had a great time, but insisted on keeping his cheerio container tightly clenched in one hand and paint brush in the other. This picture was not posed, you can guess what happened with the brush. He put it into the cheerio container and then with cheerios stuck to the brush, tried to eat the cheerio. yum. Then, when I turned my back on him for just one second (I know, famous last words) to help Logan clean his hands, he brought all the paint over to the ladder, popped a squat on the bottom step and started to paint the ladder. Of course he did. What else would he paint?

Finally friends

I have dreamed of the day. I have heard that it happens. Truthfully, I really didn't believe it could actually happen. Finally, there is a teeny-tiny spark of a light at the end of the tunnel. Logan and Tate have become friends who actually play together!! The other day I left the room for over 15 minutes while they giggled and used Tate's mattress as a slide. Of course, Logan ended up with a fat lip and Tate had huge bump on his forehead, but it was the first time they actually amused themselves together happily. THEN the next day while I was doing laundry, they played dress up with the pile of dirty clothes, (I know--gross--but don't judge--they were happy) putting t-shirts on their heads and laughing hysterically at each other. I just took a few silly picts, but you should have seen what Logan did with my thong.
